What Causes Fascia Boards to Rot?
From the ground, it may look like the soffit and fascia boards just need a new coat of paint. But once you get up close and probe the wood, it can become obvious that they're beyond repair. Fascia boards rotted at the peaks of gabled roofs are often caused by holes or cracks in the shingles immediately above, or by shingles that fail to direct water into the gutters properly.
